Orange 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-EAs many manufacturers and businesses make the commitment to environmentally friendly practices, Ford leads the way with a competitive strategy. Here is the latest news on Ford’s commitment to a fully electric lineup.

Meet the Mach-E: Ford’s All-Electric Mustang

Ford may not have been the first to market an electric vehicle, but the company did turn heads when it introduced the electric Mustang. Before the Mach-E, electric vehicles had a reputation for being efficient but less than appealing when it came to their design. Ford defied the odds and introduced the first electric Mustang. The Mustang Mach-E is anything but slow, going from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

With numerous drive modes, the latest technology, electric all-wheel drive, and a fully electric engine, it’s no surprise that the Ford Mach-E has been named the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.

Upcoming Ford Electric Vehicles

While Ford has plans for a fully electric lineup, the next two in line are the 2022 E-Transit — an all-electric work van — and an electric Ford F-150. Since Ford has increased its electric initiative budget to $22 billion from now until 2025, we can expect some additional electric vehicles to be announced by then. Ford has also taken it a step further than other manufacturers and has committed to a total $29 million budget, with the additional funds going toward self-driving cars.

While self-driving cars may be further off than an electric lineup, the increase in Ford’s budget shows its commitment and dedication to the technology.

Modern Designs and the Electric Vehicle

Ford recognizes the need for a modern approach to meet electric vehicle goals. Style and speed are not the only concerns Ford is laying to rest with its electric vehicles. The automaker has proven that electric vehicles can brave the elements and handle difficult weather. They can be equipped with many of the same features as gas-powered vehicles. A hardworking electric F-150 work truck is also in design, giving drivers who use their vehicles for work purposes a more efficient option.

How Ford Is Making Electric Vehicles a Reality

In order to get more electric vehicles on the road, people need convenient methods to charge them. Ford understands this, and in its efforts to transition to an electric lineup, it has also made plans to increase the number of charging stations, both at home and on the road.

The FordPass Charging Network is quickly growing, giving drivers more options when on the road. Currently, this network has over 16,000 charging stations all across the United States, and the number is continually growing.

Drivers have more charging options at home, including their own charging station, a wall outlet, or a mobile charger wall outlet. Ford has already developed a method for faster charging. When charged with the Ford Connected Charge Station, Mach-E drivers can charge up to 10 times faster than when using a traditional outlet.

The Mach-E Mustang is scheduled to be released this summer, while the electric Transit is expected to arrive later this year. In the meantime, come by Lenoir City Ford today to check out Ford’s impressive lineup.
