2020 Ford Edge

The 2020 Edge has four trims, including the SE, SEL, SL, and Titanium. It now wears a six-sided grille that looks excellent but not too aggressive. The overall design has hallmarks of a European design studio. Buyers can get 17- to 21-inch wheels, including the blacked-out shoes on the ST trims.

With the SE, SEL, and Titanium models, the 2020 Edge has a capable 2.0-liter engine that can deliver up to 250 horsepower. A sportier 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 that makes 335 horsepower comes with the ST. Both engines deliver power to an eight-speed automatic transmission with either front- or all-wheel drive controls for maximum acceleration.

With a 2.0-liter turbo-four in the base trims and a 2.7-liter V-6 in the ST model, the 2020 Edge delivers a smooth performance on the pavement. Its eight-speed transmission provides seamless power shifting. This allows the lighter engine to cover the zero to 60 mph under eight seconds and the more powerful motor to reach the same distance in less than six seconds. The twin-turbo engine has gained 20 more horsepower from last year, giving it more biting power on the road. The 2020 Edge features an independent suspension, electric power steering, and standard 17-inch wheels to deliver excellent driving control and precision. Buyers get 20-inch wheels in the Titanium, while the ST comes with either 20- or 21-inch tires that deliver exceptional handling on curvy terrain. There is a Sport mode for sharper and more aggressive driving.

The 2020 Edge sits five passengers comfortably with plenty of legroom and foot room. It features reclining back seats, a panoramic roof, and 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space that can increase to 73.4 cubic feet if you fold the rear seat. The styling is gentle and the controls now have user-friendly knobs and switches. All trims have Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, improved voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Amazon, Alexa, Android Auto, and satellite radio. It also features two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo, and some models have a wireless charger. The ST has power adjustable seats, and the 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat offers excellent all-around visibility. Cloth upholstery is standard, but there are synthetic and genuine leather options.

The 2020 Edge sports Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance features. These include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring. It also features rear cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, post-collision braking, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors. Ford's MyKey system is standard on all trims, allowing you to set volume and speed limits for other drivers. The 2020 Edge comes with active safety features such as automatic parking assist, adaptive headlights, and evasive driving assist. Other features include lane centering assist, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, and a 180-degree parking camera system. The SUV earned five stars in overall crash test ratings and frontal and side crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
