2022 Ford Mustang
Say hello to the 2022 Ford Mustang, a sports car that's impossible to ignore. From the roaring engine to its modern styling, the vehicle sure commands attention. Let's take a closer look at the best features of the 2022 Ford Mustang.
Trim Levels
Ford offers the Mustang in four versions: the Ecoboost, GT, Mach 1, and Shelby. The Ecoboost trim comes in the base Fastback, Premium Fastback, Convertible, or Premium Convertible. The entry-level GT trim offers all of these designs except the Convertible. Race-inspired upper trims are the Mach 1, Mach 1 Premium, and Shelby GT500.
Style differences between trims are subtle, yet these variants all remain unmistakably Mustang. The Mustang's bulging hood flows forward to join the front grille with the signature pony or cobra emblem. LED headlights frame the trapezoidal grille, and low slung fog lamps finish the aggressive front fascia. Sculpted sides, fastback styling, and a wide stance speak to the Mustang's athleticism.
Engine
The aptly named EcoBoost trims have two EcoBoost engine options. A 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection and twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) technology puts out 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine's high-performance version features a slightly larger twin-scrolling turbocharger and delivers 330 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
The GT models tap into Ford's legendary 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V-8 engine. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and gives you an impressive 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Mach 1 trims use a race-tuned 5.0-liter V-8 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching technology. The horsepower output for this combination is higher than the GT's, adding 20 more horsepower, though the torque rating is identical.
You'll find a 5.2-liter supercharged cross-plane crank V-8 engine under the hood of the Shelby GT500. This powertrain, fused with a seven-speed TREMEC dual-clutch transmission, pumps out 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Every Mustang features the class-exclusive active valve performance exhaust system that turns your engine sound from a whisper to a roar. A line-lock system lets you warm up the tires and give your friends a smoke show. The launch control system dials in your brakes, powertrain, and traction control systems for faster straight-line starts.
Interior
Inside the Mustang, you get the ergonomic comfort of bolstered seats with available heating and ventilation. There are many more available amenities including a heated steering wheel and leather-trimmed seats with perforated inserts in three colors.
Ford's Sync 3 technology package lets you sync your smartphones for hands-free operation. The touch screen features pinch-to-zoom capability and operates all your favorite apps.
Safety Features
Ford Co-Pilot 360 is a suite of driver-assist systems standard on every Mustang. The suite adds pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, which scans the road ahead and alerts you to potential hazards. If you fail to react, the system will provide emergency brake support.
Other driver aids in Ford Co-Pilot 360 include a lane-keeping system and BLIS (blind-spot information system). These two systems keep you in your lane and notify you when vehicles enter your blind spots. An adaptive cruise control system is available to help you maintain a preset speed and distance in traffic.
